This was the definition of a “local wedding” for me!
When you live in Northern Virginia long enough you start to realize something, most of the people you run into are not from Northern Virginia. Being born and raised here it gives you a slightly different perspective on things. You remember how it was before everyone moved to this area. You remember what it was like when traffic wasn’t everywhere always. You also have a fondness to the area that people who move here don’t seem to ever develop. That’s why it’s almost refreshing to meet people who are from here because they get the area and get the vibe.
Well Serena and Rob grew up in Northern Virginia. They pretty much grew up in the same neighborhood as me! They got married about 15 minutes from my childhood home. They even met while working at the movie theater I frequented as a middle and high schooler! Like I said, a local wedding!
Looking past where they grew up, Serena and Rob were just a joy to be around. They were unapologetically lovers of Star Wars and “nerd” things. They didn’t take themselves too seriously, joked and laughed, and many times our wedding meetings ended up as us just talking at our “local” Starbucks! Everything was easy going with them.
The wedding itself took place in a rustic looking building over in Herndon, VA. Seeing as how this was a February wedding the winter theme was carried throughout. The cake was a particular highlight to me, decorated as if it was covered in icicles. They even had a hot cocoa bar! The ceremony and reception was as light hearted and fun as the couple, and lets just say that the friends and family there were as fun loving as the couple!
Alright enough talking, take a look through the images and enjoy!
Congrats Serena and Rob! Here’s to many happy years!
