Oh where to start with this one…
Let’s start with how Gale and Patrick even found me! Way back in October I got an email not from Gale but her sister asking for my info and price list. She informed me that she had found me on reddit (that’s two if anyone is keeping track!) and that she was doing some research for her sister. Gale was down south at school studying for her masters, and Patrick was up north working at his current job. Gale’s sister graciously passed along all my info to the couple, and after a brief phone conversation they decided to hire me!
Given the nature of their living circumstances, actually meeting the couple was a bit of a challenge. I didn’t meet Gale face to face until the end of November when we did all the contract stuff. I didn’t meet Patrick face to face until the day of the wedding (which was in June). I don’t know how great of a first impression it is to introduce yourself to someone on their wedding day and follow it up with, “I’ll be your photographer for the day!” but that’s life sometimes!
This couple though was just a pleasure to work with. They were really relaxed, full of life, and constantly laughing! There are a couple of other things you should know about these two that will help you get a clearer picture of the wedding day this was. I apologize Patrick and Gale if I get this wrong (just yell at me and I’ll fix it), but Gale is studying Sequential Arts (think graphic novel/comic book illustration), and Patrick works at a library with a degree in Archival Science. Raise your hand if you know anyone with one of those educational backgrounds? Yeah I thought so! The wedding, as you can imagine (and will see), had the comic book theme running throughout. I only had the pleasure of talking to this couple a hand full of times, but even I knew their wedding day fit them perfectly!
As for the actual wedding day, it took place in late June at the Overhills Mansion in Catonsville, Maryland. You couldn’t of asked for a more perfect day weather wise, and the venue itself had this great southern feel to it. The ceremony was something to behold. My pictures really do it no justice because you need to hear what was said. Their friend was the officiant, and I’ve listened to comedians who didn’t make me laugh this much! As you’ll see in the pictures below, he had the couple sign a paper. This paper was an acknowledgement that the couple knew he had never officiated a wedding before and that he could not be held accountable for anything that happened during the ceremony. At another point, he asked both Patrick and Gale a series of questions to test their love of each other. One such question that was directed at Patrick:
“Patrick, if you wake up one day to find out that Gale absolutely despises Spiderman and thinks he’s one of the worst superhero’s, will you respect her opinion and still love her?”
This was followed up with a question to Gale:
“Gale, if you wake up one day to find out that Patrick is, in fact, Spiderman, will you still love him?”
Are you starting to get a feel for how this wedding was? It was a ton of fun and I can only hope that my pictures capture even 1/10th of the excitement and beauty of the day. With that said, let’s get to the pictures!

Patrick and Gale, it was an absolute pleasure to both meet you two and photograph your big day! Thanks so much for letting me be apart of it! Here’s to many happy years!
