Where to start with this wedding? We could start with how the couple decided to get married on Friday the 13th (brave souls). Or we could talk about how I woke up the day of the wedding with a scratched cornea. Oh I would be remiss if I didn’t mention how the wedding had to be rescheduled multiple times while Steve waited months to get a visa to get into the country. As I’m writing all of these things, it sounds like I’m typing out the recipe for a disaster of a wedding…
But it wasn’t!
In reality, Friday the 13th came to mean a wedding with bubbles and butterflies! My scratched cornea gave way to beautiful dresses and sharp tux’s. The trials Liz and Steve went through to get his visa and plan this wedding simply made the day that much sweeter! They had survived the months coming up to this wedding, and both of them are stronger for it!
Liz and I go back to college where we met playing trumpet for the Marching Virginians. As always when a friend of mine asks me to shoot their wedding I view it as an honor and a privilege. We have all attended a friends wedding, but how many times do you attend a friends wedding and get to see the bride in her dress well before the ceremony or take pictures of them in their tux behind the scenes. It’s those special moments and privileges that only a photographer really gets to experience, and when you get to do that with a friend it makes it that much sweeter.
This wedding had everything going against it, but in the end the day was a wonderful success! Now, on to the pictures!
