I got more Virginia Tech connections for you in this wedding!
As I mentioned in my post for Jeri and Jeff’s wedding, I was apart of the Marching Virginian’s during my time at Virginia Tech. The band has over 330 members, so there are many people you don’t get to meet during your time there. One person I did know, however, was someone by the name of Mary. After I graduated from Tech and started doing freelance photography almost 6 years ago, Mary was the first wedding I ever photographed! She gave my information to Lauren (who, as you probably guessed, was in the Marching Virginians as well) and, well, her and Caleb hired me! There were many familiar faces at this wedding (who may or may not have also dropped a good word about me…), but while it was great to catch up with people I haven’t seen since college, I’m mostly thankful that I got to know Lauren and Caleb!
The wedding took place at the Inn at Vint Hill, a civil war mansion built in 1860, down in Warrenton. The inn itself is a great house with colorful rooms and a very vintage feel to it. In the back is a massive tent with a wooden floor where the reception was held, and the ceremony itself took place on the front lawn. The weather was…less that cooperative leading up to the wedding, but thankfully the rain ceased and we were able to have the wedding outside!
Caleb did not go to VT, but he grew up in Virginia, so somewhat appropriately there was a strong Virginia theme throughout the wedding. Throw in all the home-made signs and the character of the venue, and everything had a very personal touch to it. Once the reception started the only thing that got people away from the dance floor was the ice cream truck! Yes, that’s right, Lauren and Caleb rented out an ice cream truck for the reception, and it was quite possibly the greatest thing I’ve ever seen at a wedding reception!
Alright, I’ll stop. Check out the images from this wonderful day! I hope you like them as much as I enjoyed taking them!
Congrats Lauren and Caleb! Thank you for letting me into your lives and being apart of your big day! Here’s to many happy years!
