This wedding had a little bit of everything. For starters we had Lara and Doug, a wonderful, laid back couple who had been together for many years. Then there was the family and friends, who were energetic and fun loving and very comfortable with each other. We had some Nintendo figurines, speeches with props, purple boots, emotional first looks (but not involving the groom), and even some good old fashion Virginia Tech alumni thrown in to the mix!
Oh and then there was the rain…
I don’t ever wish rain on anyone on their wedding day, but it’s a fact of life that the weather is going to do whatever it likes. That said if there was every a couple that was going to be great at rolling with the weather, it was Lara and Doug. You would have no idea that it was raining and caused them to change their wedding plans if you were here at the wedding. They were just as happy and laid back as they were all the other times I met with them leading up to their wedding! Throw in those purple rain boots and an umbrella or two and we even got a good shot or two (or hundred)!
The wedding venue was at a country club here in the Northern Virginia area. The ceremony was performed by a pastor who had known the couple for many years, lending an air of familiarity and support to the proceedings. As I mentioned before the bridal party and family were fun and energetic (if not hard to wrangle on occasion for pictures) so everything from portraits to dancing was engaging! The reception and speeches, and cupcakes, were all spectacular. Really the only “negative” with the whole day was the rain, and even then I’m not sure anyone cared enough about the rain to count it as a negative!
It’s pretty clear I won’t be able to do justice to this wedding with words, so go on and take a look for yourself!
Congrats Lara and Doug! Here’s to many happy years!
