Last one of 2016 folks, and we definitely went out with a bang!
Kiri and Martin, a lovely couple who met while working at the same school, had a winter wedding at the Meadowlark Botanical Gardens. While this was the first time I’ve ever shot a wedding at this venue, I’ve been a guest there before and it is a gorgeous location. The day started off with getting photos outside before we lost daylight at various spots around the grounds. At first blush you don’t think doing photos outside in December would be all that pleasing to the eye, but the colors Kiri and Martin chose along with the beautiful and classy fur Kiri was rocking really worked with the setting!
The ceremony itself was inside the Atrium and was officiated by a friend of the couple. It was short but sweet, and after some family portraits I took the couple outside again, this time into a “Winter Wonderland.” Unbeknownst to me before I met with Kiri and Martin two weeks before at the park, around Christmas time Meadowlark sets up a “Winter Wonderland” that you can walk through which is filled with lights and displays. Using the lights in the park allowed for some cool shots, including the one at the top of this post!
The reception itself was pretty laid back. The food was delicious, guests could take their table marker, which was a smores’ set, and head out to the firepit outside, and the dance floor was bouncing pretty much all night! All in all if you were going to have a wedding to end the year, I can’t think of a better one than this!
Alright, enjoy the last wedding images from me in 2016!
Thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your big day Kiri and Martin! Here’s to many happy years!
