During my years at Virginia Tech, I played trumpet in the Marching Virginians. I remember my sophomore year walking down one day to the practice field. I got there somewhat early, so a lot of people were milling around or sitting on the sideline. As I was arriving, I noticed a girl that I had talked to maybe once or twice sitting on her trumpet case waiting for practice to start. I’m not sure why I had this thought (or why I thought it would be a good idea), but I decided to run down and tackle her as she sat there minding her own business.
That was the day that Jeri and I became friends!
I’ve kept up with Jeri to varying degrees as she has moved around the country, but I was so excited for her the day she called me to tell me that she was engaged! I didn’t get to meet Jeff until the day of the wedding, but by all accounts he is a good man who is perfect for Jeri. Despite currently living in Louisiana, the two of them decided to get married in Fredericksburg closer to family.
The day started with a Catholic ceremony at a church in Triangle, VA. After the service we all moved down I-95 to Gari Melcher’s Home and Studio, an estate with historic homes and gardens. The venue was absolutely gorgeous! Between the magnificent scenery and this lovely couple, grabbing great pictures was not difficult! The reception itself was very light-hearted and fun (the pictures of the cake cutting should make that fact abundantly clear!) and I’m pretty sure everyone had a great time. It was a beautiful day for a happy couple. Can’t ask for much more than that!
Alright I’m done, on to the pictures!
Thank you Jeri and Jeff for allowing me to be apart of this great day! Here’s to many happy years!
