Yes you read that right, part 1!
Elizabeth and Prabhav approached me back in February about photographing their wedding. The only caveat was that they weren’t having one wedding, they were having two! Their first wedding was a Hindu ceremony with a small group of family and friends a couple of days before their next wedding ceremony (it was a busy week for them). I of course agreed to photograph both, and I’m so happy I did!
I have never been apart of a Hindu wedding in any form or fashion. I’ve always heard the same two things about Hindu weddings: They are very colorful and they last for days. Elizabeth and Prabhav informed me that their ceremony would be a shortened one, so it only lasted a few hours, but it definitely was colorful! The clothing and decorations were all so ornate and bright and, well, happy! There were many different rituals during the ceremony (and Prabhav’s brother kindly explained to the audience what each was), and there was a lot of interaction not just between the couple, but between the family and audience as well.
For all the things that were unique about the wedding and ceremony, there was one part that you find in just about every wedding in every culture: Food and dancing! As you’ll see below, there was plenty of that on this day too!
This was a great experience for me, and I am so honored that I got to take part! I hope you enjoy the images!
Come back tomorrow for Part 2 of Elizabeth and Prabhav’s wedding!
