Two days, two weddings, and a combination of cultures. If that doesn’t call for an extra long blog post I don’t know what does!
Cléa and Adnan continue a theme in my clientele of people who are infinitely more interesting than me! Cléa, who is from Switzerland, and Adnan who grew up in Wisconsin, met in New York City and have been together for many years. The combined number of countries they have visited and lived in makes my list of travel destinations seem very small. So naturally this couple would have an Islamic ceremony at an Indian restaurant on a Friday, and follow it up with another wedding Ceremony at the Dacor Bacon House in D.C. on Saturday!
A couple other traits about these two that you should know are that both are exceptionally nice and welcoming, and both of them could not have been more laid back and relaxed through all of this! There’s nothing particularly relaxing about a wedding, but I’m continually amazed by couples like Cléa and Adnan who make it feel that way.
Both ceremonies had a very intimate feel to them. Friday’s ceremony took place at a restaurant called Diya. The evening had a little bit of everything. Dinner was an Indian buffet, people (including Cléa and Adnan as you’ll see) were dressed in traditional Pakistani clothing, the ceremony was put on by an Imam, and it was all capped off with some dancing (both choreographed and not so choreographed)! Friday gave both friends and family who came from all over to see the couple and just hang out with them.
Saturday took place at the Dacor Bacon House (my fourth time photographing a wedding at this wonderful venue). This had a more “traditional” American wedding feel to it, but was no less relaxed or inviting. From touching and funny toasts to Adnan playing a musical set with his band for the guests, this day also had a little bit of everything!
In the end, Cléa and Adnan had two wonderful days celebrating with friends and family! Before I release you to the pictures, please note that there are more pictures than normal in this post so it may take a bit longer to load (sorry for the inconvenience). I hope you like them!
Congrats Cléa and Adnan! Thank you for allowing me to be apart of this great moment in your lives, and I wish you the very best wherever in the world you two end up! Here’s to many happy years!
