If you’ve spent any time on my website, chances are you’ve come across a post with the word “Lensbaby” in it. What followed was most likely a weird, funky looking image. Lensbaby is a brand of camera lenses that allow for this crazy and creative look (if you want to get a better idea of what I’m talking about, hit up their website here). In a nutshell, the lens actually moves and swivels, allowing you to move the “sweet spot” around, or in other words the point that’s in focus. The results can range from really cool to really abstract (and sometimes both!). I own a lensbaby, and I love to mess around with it, but I sadly don’t get that much of a chance to use it (and especially with clients).
Well, as luck would have it, at the end of my engagement session with Ashley and Mark, this lovely couple let me break out my Lensbaby and play around a bit! Shooting with one of these lenses forces you to think differently about a scene, and quite frankly it’s a lot of fun. It’s even better when you have two models who are willing to let you mess around! The result was a few images that I thought were pretty cool (my favorite being the header image), so I thought I’d share. Hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them!
